Exactly! Staying late, working on weekends is not a virtue. Once in a while its okay, if it is a pattern then it points to a management problem. One should ask:
- Are you managing your time well?
- Are you having realistic expectation of what can be achieved in the given time?
- Has company given the right amount of resources to the project, in terms of time or money or people involved?
- Is the company having realistic expectation from its people?
If the answers to all of these is yes, then there shouldn't be a need to work overtime. If any of them is no, there are bigger problems to work on than just the immediate project.
